The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity by Julia Cameron has been one of the most invaluable tools in helping me reconnect with my creative self.
Tools and practices such as the morning pages and artist’s date have assisted me tremendously in clearing my channel. It helped me deal with my inner critic. The book showed me ways on how to allow the creative energies to flow through.
And that creativity is simply our Essence, the Source, our Creator….who we truly are at the core.
And I’m happy that Julia has now published a version of this book for parents!
In my previous post, I made reference to a conversation that I had with a dear friend in which “she was airing her sentiments about how children easily imitate what they see — from the people they interact with…Children take after the people around them.”
Interestingly, a review of this new book says, “Using checklists and personal exercises, the book focuses on empowering parents to be creative under the premise that children will model their behavior on that of their parents. The reminders to look for joy and wonder may be revelatory for Cameron’s readers and their kids.” –Publishers Weekly
I get that there is no degree on parenting. It is one reason why there is much dysfunctionality in families and even relationships in general.
But there are numerous tools and resources that are now being made available to help empower both parents and children alike. And thanks to the remarkable work of individuals like Julia Cameron, here’s one resource which may just find its way into your collection of parenting toolkit. Or, if you’re a non-parent like me, it’s a gift you may consider giving to parents.

The Artist’s Way for Parents provides an ongoing spiritual toolkit that parents can enter—and re-enter—at any pace and at any point in their child’s early years.
