Often, the Universe sends us messages. Some of them serve as warnings, some of them are sources of inspiration. But how our destiny is created and how our fate is determined is in how we interpret these signs and messages.
We can interpret the signs in countless ways. We may come from or use our limited, lower self and unknowingly want to serve only our selfish motives. Or, we may align with our Divine Self that knows not only what is for the highest good and best interest of ourselves, but of all others concerned.
Often also, there are lessons that we need to learn, sometimes the painful way. It isn’t necessary and it doesn’t have to be so all the time. But when the Universe has been constantly sending us the messages, and we continue to ignore them or misinterpret them, sometimes, a tragedy is what it takes in order for us to finally get the message. That’s why it’s called a wake-up call.
And whether we’re aware of it or not, and whether we acknowledge it or not, we are constantly being guided and protected. The Universe never abandons us, even if we feel otherwise. As the poem Footprints in the Sand says,
“The times [of trial and suffering] when you have seen only one set of footprints… is when I carried you.”
God is always speaking to us. Sometimes, we’re the ones who refuse to listen.
God also always listens. Sometimes though, we’re the ones who stop talking.
And yet God never gives up on us. It’s only us who refuse to give in.
Amidst all the chaos and the noise brought by the holiday season, may we remember to celebrate the real reason for the season.
And may we all remember to pause for a moment and to listen…to that still small voice within.
